It seems as though MK9 has been teased according to G4TV's The Feed:

What I want to know is why everyone is calling it Mortal Kombat 9? Shouldn't it be 8?

I have been thinking that myself, and I really don't know why they call it 9 unless they count MK vs. DV as canon, making it 8 (which we know isn't canon). I just call the new MK, "MK 2010", for now, then I'll call it, "MK 2011". ;p

That makes more sense. It being called MK9 is dumb. I didn't like Mortal Kombat vs DC because of the controls and the storyline.
