Anyone else here remember this show? One of the best shows to come out under Hanna-Barbara back in the early 90s. The show was about a pair of cats, Chance Furlong and Jake Clawson, who by day job are a couple of junkyard auto mechanics, who become a vigilante pair of crimefighters, T-Bone and Razor (respectively), known as the Swat Kats, who defend the metropolis, Megakat City. Unlike most H-B shows, this one was action packed that more or less could compete against the likes of Batman: The Animated Series and Gargoyles. The show was pretty popular at the time and was ranked #1 syndicated show on TV, despite only lasting two seasons. Subsequently, a third season was planned but was ultimately scrapped and the show ended up being canceled. Part of that problem was that Ted Turner (owner of most of H-B at the time and the one responsible for shoveling us the God-awful Captain Planet) didn't like the show's use of violence (the show was H-B's most violent show at the time) and pulled the plug on the show first chance he got.
Since cancellation, the show has garnered a really good cult following. The show runs on the Boomerang channel from time to time, and now is up for a DVD release come December 14th (exclusively on WBShop.com).
Like I said, this was one of my favorite shows back in the 90s, and I enjoyed every minute of it. And I'd probably be remiss if I didn't mention how the show helped launch a whole generation of furries thanks to some of the female characters such as Calico "Callie" Briggs, but that's a whole different story.
If you look the show up on Google, you'll find a few sites dedicated to it. Anyone else have any thoughts or memories of this show?
