I laughed at the post, at first I thought this was going to be a troll-thread when I read the thread title. I tip my hat to you good sir for the laugh.
The movie is indeed terrible, though I admit it's a guilty pleasure for me since it is entertaining.
As for Peach's intelligence, I wouldn't say she's "retarded," but she's clearly not that bright if she's gonna get kidnapped by the same guy over and over again. XD

We should throw in the Super Mario Bros. Super Show while we're at it. That show made no sense at all, but still it garnishes a soft spots in all of our memories.

I dunno, it made enough sense to me. I loved that show and am glad to own the complete series on DVD.  Though, if you do want to talk about bad Super Mario cartoons, the Super Mario World one is far worse. |

Back in the day, the Zelda cartoon was the Friday show of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show (instead of showing a Mario cartoon, they would show the Zelda cartoon). I just found that that Netflix is streaming a few eps of the SMBSS DVD, so if you're a Netflix subscriber, look the show up and relive some of your childhood memories (or nightmares).

The movie was horrible, but it was fun to laugh at. The same thing with the shows, but I never watched the Super Mario World series.

Super Mario World was just as goofy as Super Mario Bros. Super Show. Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 was subsequently better, but still as messed up. Actually if you're a fan of the Nostalgia Critic, he does a review of both the movie and the SMB Super Show.
