Okay, those that been keeping score on Soul Calibur IV know what I'm about to talk about. When they put this game into production, Namco-Bandai stated that they were not going to incorporate exclusive characters in the fray. Well, recently they changed their mind on the matter and have included two new to the SC universe characters, both exclusive to one console. Get this, though. They're two Star Wars legends! That's interesting, huh?
Okay, if you have the Xbox 360, you'll get to try out Yoda (Todd, if you're planning on getting this game, you can tell us what Yoda's like in it). If you have the PlayStation 3, you get to try out Darth Vader (when I get my PS3 and this game, I'll tell you what Vader's like).
What I want to know is what are your thoughts on this. My thoughts is...well, I'm not sure what to think. I mean, yeah, it's pretty interesting to see characters like Yoda and Vader in Soul Calibur game, and a regular set of swords vs. a light saber...that would make some pretty nice battles. The thing I hope is that Namco-Bandai doesn't go overboard with them. I know with Heihachi, Spawn, and Link in Soul Calibur II, they were pretty much on an even playing field, but there is a potential for overdoing a character so bad that no one will want to play them. They did that in Soul Calibur III with a few characters (for me, it was Talim, my fave from SC II). Anyone else agree or disagree?

I'm not even sure what to think. Yeah, Yoda sounds fun to play as, but I'm not planning on getting a 360 or a PS3 in the near future. I didn't even play the third SC, but I like the idea of creating my own fighter.

I have the third one. The Create-a-Fighter was okay, but I thought it was lacking a little bit. Maybe their first time doing this I guess. When you manage to make enough to move in with Todd, you can con him into getting the game since he already has a 360. I really want to know what Vader is going to be like in this. I don't know why, but I just do.

Wow, and I thought Spawn was out of place in Soul Calibur 2. XP
I'll have to look into it whenever I get the 360, though I'm sure a friend of mine, who is a big Star Wars fan and owns a 360, will probably have it when it comes out. And word if there's going to be a Wii version? I saw there was a sort of Adventure game out with Sigfried (w00t) as the hero, but I'm surprised Namco isn't bringing it to Nintendo. Namco and Nintendo have such a great relationship together, and Link made the Gamecube vesion of SC2 the top seller of the three versions, not to mention how Wiis are still flying off the shelves, it seems odd that they wouldn't make use of this opportunity (I'm sure TP Link would fit in just fine, or Ike from Fire Emblem, or if they want to keep the Star Wars theme, there's always Obi Wan or Luke).

My point exactly. Unfortunately, Soul Calibur IV will not be on the Wii. My guess is because of the lack of powerful hardware being used for SCIV (and let's face it, the Wii is so outmanned in the power department by both the PS3 and Xbox 360). But the one Soul Calibur game you refer to is on the Wii and it's called Soul Calibur Legends. It's out now. Sigfreid is the hero in this one I believe, and it is an adventure game. Too bad that's the good news. The bad news on that front is that from every review I've read, it's a game you'll want to avoid (from bad story, repetitive game play, and graphical glitches galore). I'm sure people could probably protest to put the game on the Wii, and maybe add in the characters they want (like TP Link, Ike, or even Obi Wan or Luke). I guess we'll have to wait and see how SCIV does on the PS3 and 360 first.

Lol, yeah, it seems Namco's missing the ball on this one. It's understandable that the Wii cannont handle the same level of gaming the other two machines can (watching Dead Rising on the 360 is mind-blowing to see how many moving zombies each doing their own thing on the gamescreen without graphics errors or slowdown). Still, Soul Calibur is a series that wouldn't be hindered too much by a graphics dumbing down to make it work on the Wii (with the other two being unchanged). Namco seems to be missing a market by under estimating the Wii again (last time was by not bringing Katamari, a game that would fit so perfectly on the Wii both in control department and in non-traditional gaming style perfect for that "casual gamer" market). Ah well, at least it gives me something to consider for the 360.

Taking that into consideration, a lot of developers do that. They very much underestimate the Wii and it's functionality. I think they did Soul Calibur Legends just to try to "make it up to the Wii folk" for not giving us SCIV, but as poor as SCL is, they really need to do more than that. Maybe we can protest to them and get them to give us SCIV on the Wii. I believe you that it can be done and done really well.

So I picked up this game a couple of weeks ago. I've been having fun with it. I bought Darth Vader a few hours ago for the hell of it. Anyhoo, the controls are different from Soul Calibur 2 (I never played 3) so it took me a few days to get used to them, but I'm doing alright at the game now.
