I met a nice guy at one of the local malls here, who works at Hot Topic there. He started to talk about video games yesterday and he was telling me about Skyrim. I never heard of the Elder Scroll series (or I might have and not paid any attention). Anyways he said the game is pretty awesome and is the best video game he ever played. He told me to check it out when I had the chance.
Thus last night I did. I looked on Youtube at the gameplay and character creations. The game does indeed look fun and the graphics are really nice. Only problem I have with it is how the "humans" look. Anyways, for those who don't know, the ES series is a RPG type game and you can make your own character and chose what race they are and what kind of spell caster you want them to be.
My new nerdy friend said that Skyrim is the best game in the series and the gameplay is over 300 hours without DLCs.
I am thinking about buying it and if I do, I'll go into more details about it. Until then, here's a trailer:

Right now I'm on Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion which is still pretty good even five and a half years later. I'm going to be picking up Skyrim later on, but I want to get through at least half of Oblivion first.

I broke down and bought the game with money I got for Christmas. I haven't really done much in the game. I'm a level 7, but I've been taking my time with it and doing little quests. I've join the Companions guild. I did do the first main quest, but my new friend told me to level up a good bit before I fight the dragon. Besides, it's a huge map and I want to explore a bit.

The Elder Scrolls games are all sandbox style open world games (much like Grand Theft Auto or Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas), so there will be a lot of exploration to be done in that game. There are a lot of hours to complete in Skyrim (slightly more than Oblivion+expansion packs), so be prepared to have your life sucked away within that world.

Yeah, I'm not sure how many hours I spent on it already, but it's so easy to lose track of time when I'm playing it. I do get up a lot since I can't be still for long, but I don't check the clock every time I do. I played it for four hours one night. Only real complaint I have about the game is the lag at times, and there's a lot of glitches. Oh, and I wish you can dye your armor pieces.

Most anything by Bethesda is going to have glitches. Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas were chock full of them. Hell, the PS3 version of Skyrim was glitched to hell, which Bethesda knew about, but hey, that's what patches are for, right. I think if you wanted to dye your armor pieces, that would require the PC version since that one you can include mods in it.

Okay, played through a little bit of Skyrim and I enjoyed what I did play. I started as a warrior Khajiit (http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Khajiit for more info) which a second emphasis in magic. I took on a few quests and progressed a little through the main story.
The game for me is a vast improvement over Oblivion (with some elements borrowed from the Fallout games...hey, same developer and publisher and all). And I'm still playing through Oblivion, but I'm enjoying Skyrim a bit better.
Skyrim's available through Xbox 360's Games On Demand for those that don't want to go out and buy the disc (it's still full price, though...no discounts).

I need to get into playing it. I left off at level 27, and I was working on the main story. I got ADD when it comes to playing games.

I've been playing Skyrim for a few months. I played both Morrowind and Oblivion, but Skyrim is the first time I mixed up my routine. Instead of playing a swordsman/thief, I'm an archer/blacksmith. Pretty cool that the game inspired me to try something different. My favourite part is the urn boxing. www.youtube.com/watch?v=g52yIuLizgA
