This was one of my favorite fighting games in the 90's. This game was for the Sega, and you can buy it in the Wii store. Anyways, this game is hard to beat. You don't have options to make it easy for the main fights. You can if you're training. I made it to the boss on the Sega one, but I haven't tried to beat it for years now.
Shadow is my favorite character, and for you KI fans out there, Shadow worked for a group of assassins called the, "Black Orchid Corp".
As for the game's plot, there's nine warriors that are brought back from the dead. They each could have played a very big role in their future if they had lived. The Eternal Champion has brought them back to fight each other, and whoever wins, can go back in time and stop from being killed and have a chance to bring balance to Earth.
There was a second EC game called, "Challenge from the Dark Side", and it was very gory. Yes, even more so than MK at the time. This game was on the Sega CD, so I never got the chance to play this.
Here's a couple of random fights I recorded:

I loved the first game but I sucked so badly at it! I didn't know they made a second one. That looks pretty awesome! I'll have to ebay and see how much it would cost to buy the game. One of my friends still has their Sega cd.

Oh man, I played both these games when I was a kid...brings back memories! Sega needs to bring remake this game.

I played this way back before I ever played Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, and I loved it. I tried playing it again a few months ago, though, and was surprised by how slow and clunky it feels. The characters are still very cool, but the gameplay doesn't really hold up against time.
I usually flock to fighting games because of the mythology, though, which is why I prefer Mortal Kombat over Street Fighter, but Eternal Champions is still one of my favourites in this regard.
