Bert and Ernie should get marriedI remembered when people did think they were gay a few years ago. It started with when people made a big deal about SpongeBob hugging his male friend...anyways, sorry folks, Bert and Ernie are not gay...or straight for that matter. They are asexual. In fact...when I was watching Sesame Street in the late 80's...I don't recall any couples on there, but I could be wrong. Bert and Ernie are just very good friends. I have nothing against gay people. I want them to be able to get married in any state they want, and it'll be good for kids to know everyone is different (which they're going to find that out anyways in life sooner or later); however, the message could be turned around and say, "Hey, if you're good friends with the same sex, it means you're gay." Be kinda confusing for a child, don't ya think? Hell, there's already confusing out there if a man and woman are best friends, it means they're together. Sesame Street: Asexual characters just telling kids how to count and read (when I remembered watching it anyways). Do not throw politics into the show.

I remember two couples back in the 80s (well technically the late 70s, but still going on into the 80s)...Gordon and Susan as well as Luis and Maria (who actually got married on the show...not in real life, but on the show). If you have Netflix Instant Stream, search for the special "Sesame Street: 20 Years and Still Counting..." and you'll see. It still doesn't matter, though. The purpose of Sesame Street is to help children prepare for school. That's always been the focus and it will forever be. Leave politics out of it. It's not necessary.
