Okay seeing as how I'm the only active member who primarily games on the PS3, I'm pretty sure not many people have heard of this series. But I thought it'd be worth bringing up because it rocks so hard. I own both Uncharted games and I love both to death. It's just the right blend of action and platforming. And in actuality, it's kind of like Tomb Raider, but with much better gameplay and feel to it.
For those that are unfamiliar with Uncharted, I'll give you the skinny without giving too much away. You play as Nathan Drake, a close descendant of the famous explorer, Sir Francois Drake. Each game has Nate on a different quest. In the first game, Nate, along with his close friend and companion, Victor "Sully" Sullivan, and a journalist, Elena Fisher, are in search of the famous El Dorado while being pursued by a band of pirates and mercenaries who are also in search of the lost treasure. Along the way, they encounter clues to what the treasure really is and what it does, and as it turns out, the treasure is actually a statue that is cursed and it turns anyone who tries to open it into mutated humans possessing incredible strength and speed (and they were a bugger to fight off in that game). The man behind the pirates and mercenaries sought the treasure for money, but his lieutenant, who also sought the statue but for it's devastating effect on humans, kills him and tries to take the statue off the island. This is more or less the CliffNote version of the plot. You'll want to actually play the game to go a bit more in depth (of just Wikipedia it to get the full plot summary).
In the second game (multi-time Game of the Year), revolves around Marco Polo's doomed voyage home from China and a treasure that was lost from one of his fleets. Nate and a band of other thieves, Harry Flynn, and Chloe Frazer, are set on a quest to find Shambala and the location of the Cintamani Stone. Their search ultimately leads them to locations such as Nepal and Tibet which in the game is where Shambala is. Throughout the game, you learn that Harry Flynn is a traitor working on the side of a crazed Russian psychopath, Zoran Lazarevic; Chloe Frazer and Nate have a lot of history together, and Elena Fisher is once again entangled into Nate's quest. As the game progresses, we learn what the Cintamani Stone really is, which as a stone made of petrified blue resin (which in the game is either a flammable rock or form of tree sap that has the ability to explode when shot at) and Lazarevic plans to use it as a weapon.
I only wanted to give CliffNote versions of what the games are about because I think they need to be played to get the full experience. If you guys know anyone who has a PS3 and has both of these games, I encourage you to play them. They're extremely fun and have a lot of cleverness in them. They're the highlight of the PlayStation 3 and are must haves if you plan on owning the system.
